Stray Cats

According to an announcement on the Stray Cats’ website, Setzer and his fellow Cats Lee Rocker and Slim Jim Phantom “will reunite for their first North American performance in 10 years.” The trio are set to regroup at the Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly Weekend on April 21 at The Orleans.

The Stray Cats are best known for their revival of rockabilly in the late ‘70s and through the 80’s with a string of classics like ‘Stray Cat Strut’, ‘(She’s) Sexy + 17’ and the seminal ‘Rock This Town,’ which the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame credits as one of the “songs that shaped rock and roll.”

Over the course of a four decade-long career, the band have been through multiple break-ups and reunions, with each of the members also going on to successful solo careers, including Brian Setzer’s swing revival project the Brian Setzer Orchestra, which won him three Grammy awards.

The Stray Cats will share the Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly Weekend bill with rock and roll legends Jerry Lee Lewis and Duane Eddy. In a statement, the band’s bassist Lee Rocker said, “Just a string bass, a guitar and a drum, Stray Cats are back to show ‘em how it’s done. 39 years after our first gigs, we’re back!  Can’t wait to Rock again with my brothers Brian and Slim.” For more details, go here.
